Our supplier built the world’s first open-access circular supply chain for clothing so anyone, anywhere, can use it to create and sell sustainable clothing designed to stay in loop and out of landfill.

We want to give everyone the power to play a part in the solution, which is why we asking our customers to help make fashion circular, by sending products back.

Our goal is to take 100m items back around the loop by 2027 with your help. It's a chance for you and your customers to be part of the solution to waste, climate change, and the destruction of nature.

Why Black Friday?

80% of purchases bought over the Black Friday weekend will end up in landfill or incinerated.

For most companies operating within business-as-usual, Black Friday is about getting customers to buy more and more products that are designed to go to be thrown away. Take Back Friday reverses that.

Our suppliers co-founder Mart Drake-Knight put it like this:

“Black Friday is a symptom of how waste has been woven into the way our world works. Products are designed to be thrown away, meaning the only way to create growth is to make and sell more products and create more waste. It fuels climate change and destroys nature.

We built our circular business model to solve that issue. Products are designed from the start to come back and be remade, so instead of creating waste, we create new products from it."

So this Black Friday, spread the word and be part of the solution by joining the #TakeBackFriday campaign.

How it works

Sending products back is easy.

All Happi Inc products are designed to be remade. We use natural materials and renewable energy to make clothing on demand and when items wear out, your customers can use a QR code on the label to send them back and in return, you get store credit.

Using our suppliers innovative Remill process, we turn those returned cotton products into new high-quality products, all of which can go through the same process over and over again.

To date, we have diverted 30,000kg of organic cotton from landfill, avoiding 1 million kg of CO2e emissions, and saving 586 million litres of water.

When your products come back to us, they are sorted and sent off to our partners in India to be shredded.

Shredded material is broken down into Remill yarn (50% recycled organic cotton and 50% organic cotton), respun and dyed, then cut and sewn.

Each Remill item has a printed label to distinguish it as recovered material.

The finished product is quality checked and sent to us for printing.
